Servant leadership is a paradoxical term which illuminates the true nature of genuine leadership at every level of life (workplace, community, family, church and world) and also brings us to the very heart of Christian discipleship, the way of Jesus. Servant leadership, as a radical redefinition of power and the nature of leadership, offers a compelling model for contemporary Christian living and a spiritual path that connects faith with daily life. In this course, we explore central themes of servant leadership — communion, community, compassion, call, money and power — and their interrelatedness, providing a context for spiritual practice and introduction to other Core classes.  Being in a leadership position in your daily life is NOT a requirement for taking this class. Participants are offered an opportunity to re-examine their inner life as it relates to the “outer” world. 


Led by:  Servant Leadership Faculty      Begins September 12th – Monday Evenings 6-8 p.m. for 10 weeks

Servant Leadership II –Radical Hospitality

An eleven week discussion group framed around the book Radical Hospitality: Benedict’s Way of Love by Daniel Homan, O.S. B. and Lonni Collins Pratt.  Participants will discuss the characteristics of a Servant Leader; viewing them through the lens of the Benedictine Spirituality teaching of “Hospitality”. Silence, Scripture, Lectio Divina, and Discussion.

The newly revised Core class “unpacks” the first of the three “C’s” of Servant Leadership. “Communion” is about making a commitment to some regular, transformative, centering practice, and the intention to “live” prayer in the daily activities of our lives - ever present to “the moment”.
