Former Cathedral Dean Speaks on Jungian Spirituality

J. Pittman McGehee is the former Dean of Christ Episcopal Cathedral in Houston, Texas and a popular speaker on the psychological
work of Carl Jung. He will be the next speaker in the McMichael Lecture Series at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville,
giving presentations at 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 30 in the St. Paul's parish hall.
McGehee's morning lecture will address Jung's understanding of God. Rather than writing "classical theology," Jung used his
archetypal methods to probe how humans understand God. The lecture is titled "Archetype and God's Image -- Jung's Psychology
of God."
The evening address looks at the four archetypes of mother, father, self and other as they function to help create our personality.
The 7:00 lecture is titled "I Alone Must Become Myself; I Cannot Become Myself Alone: The Paradox of Individuation."
A reception will follow.
McGehee is a native of Fort Smith. He is a Diplomate Jungian Analyst and director of the Insititute of Advancement of Psychology
and Spirituality. He is also the Carolyn Faye Professor of Analytic Psychology at the University of Houston. He received
his Master of
Divinity from Virginia Theological and an honorary Doctor of Divinity from the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest.
