The Community Kids' Closet (CKC) helps provide new clothes and shoes to the needy school children of Northwest Arkansas.
CKC provides the church with specific clothing needs for specific school children, so that we can directly impact a child's
basic needs and boost their self-esteem with a gift of new clothes. We return the clothing to the church, and CKC delivers
to the intended children. There are two campaigns a year.
CKC was
founded because many school children arrive daily at their campuses in clothing that has holes and tears, in shoes that are
too small, or wearing underclothes that are wet or soiled because that is all they have. They lack coats in cold, windy weather.
Sadly, not only do these children suffer due to worn, ill-fitting clothing, but often are shunned by others as well, simply
because of their appearance.
CKC believes that kids feel better if
they are wearing clothing that is appropriate for weather conditions, fits properly, and is without tatters and tears. We
believe that nice clothing enhances a child's self esteem, resulting in an improvement in the child's life, both academically
and socially.
CKC acts as a liason between participating schools
and sponsoring organizations such as local churches and businesses. We work with school staff to identify specific clothing
needs, then place the clothing requests on "needs tags" whcih are then posted in sponsoring organizations.
How
can you help? Simply pick up a "needs tag" posted on the Community Kid's Closet bulletin board, purchase the specific item,
then return it to the designated drop-off area within your organization. Please follow the directions listed on the back of
the "needs tag" then staple it to a bag containing the clothing item so we can match the item to the correct child. Filling
out your name and address on the back of the "needs tag" and stapling it, along with your receipt, to the bag will enable
us to mail you a receipt for your tax deductible donation.
