Paula D'Arcy

D'Arcy, who once worked with the Peale Foundation (founded by Norman Vincent Peale), is one of the most sought-after retreat masters and spiritual directors in the country.

Internationally known for her captivating delivery and unique storytelling style, D'Arcy leads listeners through parables, meditations and reflections designed "to awaken hearts to the presence of God, free the soul and infuse the emotions with joy." In her most recent book, A New Set of Eyes: Encountering the Hidden God, D'Arcy asks, "What if we knew that within our very cells is a God-given energy, a source of light that possesses the secret of Gods beautiful and complex design?" She hopes to help people particularly those dealing with grief, loss or spiritual disillusionment to open their eyes to the knowledge, intuition and love already available in their souls. Her audiences also include friends, family and caregivers hoping to find the right words to provide comfort and hope.

D'Arcy understands grief first-hand. A drunken-driving accident in 1975 took her husband and infant daughter, leaving her alone, three months pregnant and close to despair. When traditional paths were of no help, D'Arcy began searching for less traditional ways to experience God. She tells her story in the best-selling book, Song for Sarah: A Young Woman's Journey through Grief and Beyond.

In the mid-1990s, Paula wrote Gift of the Red Bird: A Spiritual Encounter. Like Song for Sarah, Gift of the Red Bird is a collection of entries from her diary, tied together by reflections and a unique spiritual vision.

In addition to delivering lectures and retreats in the United States, Canada and abroad, D'Arcy is also president of the Red Bird Foundation, which supports the growth and spiritual development of those in need and furthers a ministry both to those in prison and those living in third world or disadvantaged cultures. She has often teamed with Richard Rohr, a Roman Catholic priest, presenting dynamic programs on the Male/Female Journey, and shes done individual work with women in Initiation and Rites of Passage.

Other books by D'Arcy include When your Friend is Grieving: Building a Bridge of Love, and Where the Wind Begins: Stories of Hurting People who said Yes to Life, and Red Fire: A Quest for Awakening.
