The choral anthem for the 11 a.m. service on June 8, 2025, is “I Will Sing with the Spirit,” by the prolific and popular British composer John Rutter. The anthem was composed in 1994 for the choir of the Royal School of Church Music and has found a place in the repertoires of excellent cathedral and church choirs since then. The text is taken from 1 Corinthians 14:15, a lovely passage about finding a balance in prayer and spiritual expression. It suggests that while praying with the Spirit (or in an unknown language) is a valuable experience, it's also important to pray with the mind, or understanding, so that it can be beneficial and edifying to others.
