Bishop Visit & Diocesan Focus for 2025: “Nurturing Fertile Soil”
Sunday, May 4, 2025
We are delighted to welcome The Rt. Rev. John T. W. Harmon, Bishop of the Diocese of Arkansas, to St. Paul’s this Sunday, May 4. Bishop Harmon will preach at all three services and offer Baptism, Confirmation, and Reception at the 8:45 and 11:00 a.m. liturgies. He will also lead the Adult Forum at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall.
Following the 11:00 a.m. service, a festive reception will be held in the Parish Hall to honor the bishop and celebrate with our newly baptized and confirmed members. All are warmly invited to attend.
The 2025 Diocesan Theme
As part of his visitation, Bishop Harmon asks all congregations to lift up and reflect on the Diocesan theme for 2025:
Nurturing Fertile Soil
“Then he took a seedling from the land, placed it in fertile soil; a plant by abundant waters.”
—Ezekiel 17:5
The image is one of growth, abundance, and faithful cultivation. As Christians, we are called to tend the soil of our lives and communities, planting and nurturing the Word of God, and bearing the fruits of love, peace, and justice.
About the Artwork
The accompanying artwork for the theme was created by Angie Trotter and draws on biblical symbolism:
Dove – peace, purity, and the Holy Spirit
Vine – God's relationship with humanity
Cedar trees – beauty, majesty, and the kingdom of the Messiah
Olive trees – peace and healing
The border celebrates the ministry of Bishop Harmon as our new diocesan bishop.
We invite you to view the artwork and spend time in reflection.
