Fauré Requiem: An Evening of Music and Remembrance

Thursday, November 5, 2026 • 7:00 p.m. • Central United Methodist Church

Join us for a special evening of music as singers from St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Central United Methodist Church, First United Presbyterian Church, and Grace Episcopal Church in Siloam Springs come together to perform Gabriel Fauré’s beloved Requiem. Led by Dr. Franco Basili, this collaborative performance brings together four congregations to share in one of the most beautiful and beloved works in the choral repertoire.

Composed in the late nineteenth century, Fauré’s Requiem offers a distinctive vision of rest, peace, and hope. Rather than emphasizing the fear and judgment often associated with settings of the Requiem Mass, Fauré’s music is known for its tenderness, luminous harmonies, and gentle expression of faith. Its familiar and deeply moving melodies offer space for reflection, remembrance, and comfort.

Coming just after All Saints’ Day, this performance offers a meaningful opportunity to continue our remembrance of those who have gone before us and to experience the power of music to express what words alone sometimes cannot.

We hope you’ll join us for this special evening of music and rememberance.
