Vestry Election

I give thanks to God for eight faithful members of our parish who have offered themselves for the ministry of serving a three-year term on the Vestry: Richard Billingsley, AK Harrod, David Jolliffe, Rob Lambert, Meisha Melton, Ryan Sheets, Lowell Taylor, and Rolf Wilkin. Their willingness to say yes to this process and to commit to this important responsibility is a gift to our church. Please join me in being grateful to them and for them.

The election will take place on Sunday morning, December 7, 2025. In order to vote in the vestry election, you must by present at church that day and meet the following four criteria: 1) be at least 16 years old, 2) be a member of St. Paul’s for at least the 30 days before the election (baptized and on record), 3) come to church and participate in worship at least 3 times a year, and 4) be a member of a household that has made a financial commitment to our church or that cannot afford to do so. If you are eligible, I hope you will participate in the election on December 7.

For the past few years, we have used an electronic ballot with a ranked-choice or “instant runoff” format, but the vestry has received many complaints about the interface. Although we will still use the same format, we will use a different website that is more user-friendly for the election. Also, there will be paper ballots for those who prefer them.

Throughout the years, St. Paul’s has been led admirably by its members who have been willing to serve on the Vestry. In addition to being responsible for the church’s finances and property, the Vestry is charged with cooperating with the Rector in promoting the spiritual welfare of the parish. The persons you elect, therefore, need both practical skills and spiritual gifts. These eight individuals possess both in abundance, and I look forward to serving alongside whomever you choose.

Between now and December 7, please pray for these candidates, and, at all times, pray for your Vestry, for our clergy and staff, and for me.

Yours faithfully,

Evan D. Garner
